Our two additional CRJ700 aircraft will receive complete interior reconfigurations to include first class cabins like the one shown above.
Within the past couple of weeks, an additional two CRJ700 aircraft have joined the Atlantic Southeast fleet. These aircraft are flying under our Delta Connection program, and are currently configured with 70 economy class seats. As you may have heard, Delta is in the process of reconfiguring all Delta Connection CRJ700 aircraft to include first class cabins. Once the summer schedule (our busiest time of the year!) begins to wind down, these aircraft will receive complete interior reconfigurations to include the same first-class cabins that can be found in our other 38 CRJ700 aircraft. Watch the blog for an update when the reconfigurations are complete!

I’ve been a flight attendant at Atlantic Southeast for nearly nine years, and it is a great way to see new places, travel on your time off and meet new people. And not only do I love my job here, I love the company I work for!

Me (second from the left) with my fellow flight attendant trainees.
Back in 2009, as the nation’s economy struggled through a recession, Atlantic Southeast faced the difficult decision to furlough pilots as the demand for air travel fell. I was one of those pilots, and it wasn’t easy to leave the family I’d grown to love at Atlantic Southeast. During the furlough, I found myself working as a customer service performance leader at Chicago’s Midway airport. Although I greatly appreciated my role there and my coworkers, I really wanted to be back with Atlantic Southeast, and it just so happened that they were hiring flight attendants. I sent in my application and was welcomed into the Inflight Services group as a flight attendant trainee while on furlough as a pilot!
Just as we were finishing up emergency drills and preparing to make our first flights as trainees, I received word that the furloughed pilots were being called back to work. I was excited, but very grateful for all of the new and exciting experiences that the Inflight team had given me to make me a better pilot. When my flight attendant trainers and fellow trainees found out that I had been recalled, I was greeted by everyone with open arms and excitement for our expansion as a company and for me being able to continue pursuing my dream to fly!
After flight attendant graduation, I’ll have the wonderful opportunity to fly as a flight attendant and gain skills that will help me better understand our operation until my pilot training class begins. Experiences like this one make me proud to be a part of a company with such a very close sense of unity that provides a unique opportunity to help their fellow teammates not just grow in their workgroup, but throughout the company!
I passed my final exam last week and then headed off to Washington-Dulles Airport for my first flight as a certified flight attendant! I am very excited for my first trips as flight attendant, and now have a much more comprehensive view of my job as a pilot than ever before.

Well-trained team? Check. Balloons? Check. Elvis? Check. In Amarillo, Texas (AMA), these are the ingredients for a successful station opening!
Last week, I had the pleasure of being one of the first employees to open Atlantic Southeast’s new ground handled station in Amarillo. The first day of service created quite the fanfare at our airport –balloons decorated the ticket counter and Elvis even made an appearance with the town’s mayor to celebrate the airport’s inaugural Delta Connection flight from Memphis, Tenn.
Our team of 19 employees will work three daily Delta Connection flights between Amarillo and Memphis. The first flight departs Amarillo in the early morning hours at 5:55 a.m., the second at 11:40 a.m. and the third at 3:40 p.m. We have flights arriving from Memphis at 10:48 a.m., 3:05 p.m. and 8:59 p.m.
A special thanks is owed to our City Development, Airport Customer Service Training, Information Technology and Ground Equipment Maintenance teams who spent countless hours preparing our station for its big day. The people on these teams are rock stars!
We look forward to seeing you soon in Amarillo!

Whoever said fashion shows are reserved for New York, Paris and Milan has clearly never stepped foot on Atlantic Southeast Airlines property. I’ve been a flight attendant at Atlantic Southeast since 1999 and have experienced a lot in that time, but when I was asked to emcee a fashion show this spring, that was a first! My initial thought was, “well, that sounds fun,” and then I found out we would be performing in front of our entire management team at our airline’s spring leadership conference. I was a bit nervous to say the least! Read the rest of this entry >>
